20 years! How time flies! But there is not one day that goes by that I didn't wish you were here with me! You brought me up, taught me everything I know, and guided me for everything I do. I miss you!
In memory of my sister
感謝Baker的同事們在20年後, 今天仍然記得姐姐。 I am sure you miss her too!
姐姐 had many principles in life. She always told me: live your life in full, like there is no tomorrow.
-- work hard and never give up
-- never take "no" as an answer when you know that you are right
-- admit your mistake and try to make up for it
-- always think of others, be generous to everyone
-- help people when they are at their lowest spots, not when they are in their glorious time
-- love your friends like they are your family
-- treat people who work with you like your family too
-- never forget where we come from, our family, our roots and our story.
-- be independent, count on yourself and no others
-- always have dreams, set up your goals and go get it!
with these principles in mind, I like to share with you 3 stories
-- 姐姐 loved shopping. She would arrive from Taiwan to Philadelphia to my mom’s place, without rest, without sleep and with the time difference of 时差,she would insist that we go shopping directly.
One time, we shop at the mall for 10 hours right after she got off the plane. But nothing was for her, only presents for others. 秘書的禮物 、同事 baby的禮物、 同事的太太的禮物、 孫司機的禮物、 阿幼婆的禮物 、 女朋友的禮物, etc. 她自己沒有休息,沒有買一件東西給自己,都是大家的禮物。 Always think of others!
Baker was her life! (before Anchi and Luan were born)! I remember when Baker moved to 敦化北路,she chose the architect, chose the materials, planed and re-planed the space, planed and re-planned the meeting rooms. She was working during the day, and she would work on the plans and choose the furniture at night. She worked day and night for this dream: the dream to create and develop Baker in an environment where everyone would be happy and work in harmony like a big family. Baker 有如她的大家庭, 也有如我的大家庭。 This is the feeling I still have every time I come back. Treat people work with you like your family too!
- 姐姐 loved Taiwan. She believed in Taiwan. She wanted people know that Taiwan was the best place. At that time in 1985, Taiwan was not easy for foreigners to create factories. She helped Carrefour and Logitech to create their first base in Asia. The 創始人 of Logitech told me that without Dolly, Logitech would have never been the same. He was forever grateful that 姐姐 helped him, believed in him when he was at his lowest spot, when he only had a garage factory. 姐姐 fought through the local authority, helped him to create his first big factory in Taiwan.
There are many many stories to tell about her. And I was most fortunate to have known her for 34 years old my life!
感謝 Baker 的同事們,I am sure she is somehow here with us, with John, Anchi and Luan. May she always lives in everyone’s heart!
